TO go High performance or not to

I am trying to figure out if driving a high performance is wroth it. Getting a V8 does sound nice. sitting under all that power (don't dirty u punks) does sound nice and would be a lot of fun. Getting a light car with a big engine may be better in gas. I wonder? what do u all think?
